From state spy Maraani Shidur, to his most noble master, Galdaash Tisroc (may he live forever!), ruler of Calormen: O Noble Tisroc (may he live forever!): I have managed to convince these simple folk I am nothing more than a poor trader from the south. I have seen with my own eyes the truth of this northern land-- the animals here do talk, as we had heard rumored. And men such as ourselves deign to speak to them, sup with them, and trade with them. There are strange beasts here as well, noble master. By the eyes of Tash, they are abominations! Horses with the torsos and heads of men. Goats that stand on their legs. Comely women that live in trees and in the river. The forests here are prime timber, ripe for despoiling. The fields are lush and green, awaiting our seed. I have seen no sign of the lion they call Aslan, and believe him to be a myth. Though some of the creatures bear arms (I spied a mouse with a rapier at his side!), they are a contented people. And my Tisroc (may he live forever!) knows that a contented people are most easily conquered.... I remain your humble servant, Maraani Shidur, of Mezreel / _ _ _ |\ | |\ /| | | \ | _. _ _ ' _. | \/ | _ | _ | \ | '_| |' ` |' ` | '_| | |( \ (_ |' ` | \| (__\ | | | | (__\ | | \__)__)| | | ` ' ` ' ` -' NarniaMUSH is a TinyMUSH 2.0 based on "The Chronicles of Narnia" novels by C.S. Lewis. The most well known of these is _The_Lion, _the_Witch_and_the_Wardrobe_. NarniaMUSH is set some time after _The_Voyage_of_the_Dawn_ _Treader_, though some liberties have been taken with the story line. The four young Kings and Queens have returned to Narnia, as have many of the creatures and characters from the other novels. NarniaMUSH boasts the following features: - The Characters. You can play either feature characters (those in the books) or characters of your own invention. Many of the feature characters from the books are available, and the wizards can help you find one to your liking. If you want to use your creativity and come up with an original character, we ask that you adhere to the Narnian theme. If you're not familiar with it, don't worry - we have lots of News and other tools to help you get started. - Quests! TinyPlots! and Role-Playing (oh my!) We're lucky on NarniaMUSH to have a Role-Playing coordinator who really loves his work, and will go out of his way to help anyone who needs assitance to get their TP idea off the ground. There have been a number of long-term TinyPlots, with day-to-day activity revolving around those as well as regional activities. King Caspian's Knights hold councils to discuss developments in the kingdom, and we're always looking out for new knight material. - The Lands! Within Narnia itself, the Lantern Waste, Beaversdam, Beruna, the Dancing Lawn, Marshwiggle Marshes, the Forests and Cair Paravel are all built, and ready to explore. Archenland's good King Nain has done a wonderful job, and Anvard castle and the Pass into Narnia are some of the best building we have. The wilds of Telmar to the west are rumoured to be haunted, and to the far south, the vast Calormene Desert has been known to devour those who enter. The southern land of Calormen is present--its many towns and cities possess a unique Arabian flair. (Not everything is done, however. If you enjoy building, there will be something there for you!) - An Ocean. Ships can be constructed to sail between the many islands of Narnia's Eastern Ocean. While the system is detailed, it is designed to be easy to use and requires virtually no training. There are about fifteen ships sailing the oceans, between such islands as Galma, Terebinthia, The Lone Islands, Dragon Island, Dark Island, Isle of the Voices, and the Last Sea. A few from the books remain to be built, while others still are waiting in your imagination! - A weather system. Most exterior rooms change with the times of day, seasons of the year, winds and precipitation. The system is easy to use, and very detailed. Weather rooms may even use the global spoofer, so that creatures in the room see and hear the weather changing. It makes building a little more time consuming, but the quality is evident everywhere on the MUSH. - Stories, tales and legends. We're not content to let Lewis' Chronicles stand on their own, and are filling in background details on the lands and people of Narnia. Calormen is a favorite spot - Lewis just dropped the names of cities and gods, but we've given them personalities, lives and legends. Terebinthia pays homage to its marlin benefactor, while Telmar is the haunt of centaurs... and ghosts? And what escapade is Reepicheep up to this week?
