To the Tisroc Galdaash, Imperial Palace of Tashbaan .--. | | Tisroc (may you live forever!), I beseech you to hear the `--' words of your Lord Tarkhaan Alaxash of the Mezreel Province. The splendors of the Valley of a Thousand Perfumes cast no light next to the radiance of Tashbaan, the glorious capital of your Empire. O my Lord, know that on the 13th day of the Month of the Darkening Night, I shall be wed to the youngest daughter of the house of Calavar, the Desharazina Tarkheena, in a ceremony conducted by the Grand Vizier Alzarqa Tarkhaan upon the Lake of Ilkeen. I, humblest among your servants, O most noble son of the Great God Tash, send to you this note to beg of your presence at the ablessed event, where the Tarkheena shall forgo her vows to Zardeenah, the Goddess of the Night and Mistress of Unwed Maidens, to become my wife and Lady Tarkheena. O Tisroc (may you live forever!), I plead with you to venture forth from the Jewel of Calormen to Mezreel, and survey the most meager of your lands. Lord Alaxash Tarkhaan of Mezreel by the pen of his Vizier Acarnat Delivered by the Imperial Post -=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=- To celebrate its 1 year anniversary, its new site, and the opening of Tashbaan, NarniaMUSH is proud to present: ______________,------------------^-------------------.______________ ( ___ . . ____ .___ __ __ .____ __ _ .____ ) _> .' \ /| / .' `. / \ | | / |\ | / <_ | | / \ | | | | _-' |\ /| |__. | \ | |__. | | | /---'\ | | | | \ | \/ | | | \ | | | | `.__,,' \ /---/ `.__.' / \ / / /----/ | \| /----/ | | | | +--+ __ _ . ___ __ __ _______ _____ +--+ | | | | |\ | / .' \ | | ' / ( | | | +--|-----+ | \ | | | |___| | `--. +-----|--+ | | | | \ | | | _ | | | | | | | +-----|--+ | \| / `.___| / / / \___.' +--|-----+ | | | | | | +--+ +----------------------------------------------------------+ +--+ Maybe not a thousand nights and a night, but we'll do our best! First off, here's the latest site news: NarniaMUSH has relocated to: argo.unm.edu 6250 or: 129.24.9.24 6250 For those readers who might not know, just type "telnet" from the Unix command line followed by one of the addresses above *including* the port number, to connect to NarniaMUSH. NarniaMUSH is celebrating a whole load of stuff by hosting the Calormene Nights! Calormen is an Arabian country set far to the south of Narnia proper. Imagine the Arabian Nights with a little less violence and a whole lot of storytelling and adventures to participate in and make up for yourself! The Wardrobe, traditional entry into Narnia's Lantern Waste, opens into a clothiers' in Tashbaan, City of the Tisroc, and players are encouraged to create Calormene characters. Lord Tarkhaans and Lady Tarkheenas are needed to rule the many exotic cities of Calormen, and we need merchants, rich Tarkhaans and Tarkheenas, as well as the peasants, servants and slaves. Who says it isn't fun to play a scoundrel or street-rat? Watch out for the Efreets and Efreetahs known to cause trouble in the hot desert lands, and the cruel Gods and Goddesses of the Calormene Pantheon who are occasionally seen in temples or masquerading as common folk. -=-=-=-=-=- NarniaMUSH is a TinyMUSH 2.0, running 2.0.9p1-beta code. We're pretty much standard, with only a few local hacks (like zones of a sort), and plan to stay that way. The theme, and most importantly the people, are what make Narnia special. NarniaMUSH is based on C. S. Lewis' "Chronicles of Narnia", and focuses on a fantasy world home to humans and talking animals, with the occasional mythical beast (like fauns or centaurs) thrown in to boot. Narnia is a medieval kingdom, ruled by the noble King Caspian. For those who know the books, we're set between _Voyage_of_the_Dawn_Treader_ and _The_Silver_Chair_, but we have taken some liberties with the books; Prince Cor and Aravis Tarkheena are living in King Nain's Anvard Castle, while Reepicheep is still getting into trouble on adventures with young Prince Rilian. Players can make up their own characters, or play feature characters from the books. Lots of feature characters are still open, both human, mythical, and talking beast. Nothing special is needed to play a feature, except a commitment to playing the role. Drop on by and talk to a wizard if you need help choosing a character or want some ideas, or consult the many on line features like a list of all book characters, bestiary of species, or an always wacky name generator. TinyPlots are the mainstay of Narnia; whether it's Aunt Fizzia and Edna Cotterly (the town gossip) being washed out to sea at the Marshwiggle Mudfish Festival, or Caspian leading his forces south to Tashbaan to free slaves from the Salt Mines of Pugrahan, there's always something afoot! Our TinyPlot Coordinator's been doing a wonderful job, and its rare a day goes by in Narnia without something happening. All players are encouraged to start their own adventures and escapades, from newbies to wizards. Speaking of wizards, our crew is there to help; they don't live in ivory towers, and most are there playing along with everyone else and having fun. And they do good work too. You need help with code? Ask a wiz! Need help with a command? Ask a wiz! Have an idea or code for a new global? Talk to a wiz! Need help with your love life? Ask Aunt Fizzia! Speaking of globals, Narnia has a whole slew to make life easy for you. Configure your own +who command, +travel to distant locations, dial up a +directory of players. Or +finger that cute centaur to get his name, I know you want to. Go on, dear, I hear he's new in Narnia! [Fizzia, give me back the keyboard!] What wonderful weather we're having! Narnia has 5 weather zones for the different geographic areas, and most rooms have descriptions that change over time. Global emits to external rooms help set the mood, and get people in out of the rain. And you wouldn't want to catch cold, would you dears? [Fizzia!] A snowstorm not enough adventure for you? Sail a ship out onto the ocean, and tour the islands... or discover new ones! Or whole new lands; there's still a lot of Narnia left to be built, and everyone is encouraged to build their own piece of the world. Instructions are available for things like ships and islands, if you want to try something daring. There are more exotic lands beyond Narnia. Calormen is just one. Mysterious Telmar, the Lone Islands, Archenland and Ettinsmoor, to name a few. Each have their own style and flavor, and we encourage players to make their homes in each of them. So if you're looking for a little Arabian or medieval adventure, drop by NarniaMUSH! -=-=-=-=-=- This is a public service message brought to you by: Tash, Fizzia and Jade And the Imperial Post of Calormen!
