Tash the Inexorable, Tash the Inscruitible, Tash the Irresistible. Background: ~~~~~~~~~~ Since the ancient times the Calormene have worshiped Tash. In ages old, temples were built to his name in both the desert and the sea, the mountains and (it is said) the very air itself, but these temples are all but forgotten, burried beneath the waves and sands. The Spawn of Tash, vile demons that roamed the lands, made themselves as to be gods. For a time, the Spawn were worshiped by the Calormene with the sacrifice of men, but they had only spite for the mortals who sacrificed to them. They created the Efreet and Jinn to best the creation of men by the gods. For this, the Spawn were destroyed, and the Calormene now worship the Trinity of Tash the Inexorable; Zardeenah, Goddess of the Night; and Azaroth the Twice-Sexed. The Temple of Tash in Tashbaan, the City of the Tisroc, is the Calormene's greatest monument to their supreme deity. Sacrifices of animals, foods, and monies are made there to the Great God Tash by the rich and poor of Calormen alike. Tash takes the form of a vulture in fables and tales, prophesies are his nature. He is taunting as the desert jackal, and a mocking Calormene gryphon in other legends, told often in the dens and cafes of Calormen, where storytelling is a renowned art. Nominal Form: ~~~~~~~~~~~~ You might mistake it for smoke, as it is grey and you can see things through it. But it carries a deathly smell, not of smoke. It keeps its shape, not billowing and curling as smoke would, the shape of a man, but with the head of a bird; some bird of prey with a cruel curved beak. It has four arms which it holds high above its head, stretching out as if to snatch all of Narnia in its grip. All twenty of its fingers are curved like its beak and have long, pointed bird-like claws instead of nails. It floats over the grass instead of walking, and the grass beneath it withers with its passage. Vulture Form: ~~~~~~~~~~~~ A black vulture, with a wingspan of just over six feet, glares back at you with a baleful eye. He appears unusually intelligent, and his caws strike fear into your heart, no matter what your inner strength might be. His feathers seem to trail smoke as he flies, and when he has alighted on the ground or a perch, he seems to darken all around him. Jackal Form: ~~~~~~~~~~~ The bared yellow fangs of this small desert jackal erupt from powerful jaws made to tear into carcasses. A wiry black coat covers the rugged body of the beast from the tip of his short snout to the tip of his muscular tail, and his eyes shine with a silver gleam from under thick lashes, surreal at any time of day or night. Wide, furry pads support his paws for romps and chases across the desert sands of Calormen, where creatures like this make their transitory home, hunting among the dunes in packs when not preying on creatures left behind by other predators. Larger than most jackals, however, there is something most unique about this demon of the desert nights. Tarkaan Form: ~~~~~~~~~~~~ Tash appears in the form of a handsome Tarkaan, dark of skin with a neatly trimmed beard scented of cinnamon and freshly oiled, and a moustache that dances on his upper lip with every word from his seductive lips. His hair is as black as obsidian, and is quite long, but kept up underneath a shining silver helmet, topped in a spike which extends through his black turban. His mail is silvery black, and the plates down the front, in traditional Calormene style, are golden, but of pure gold and not brass or copper as even a Lord Tarkaan would wear. A scimitar hangs from his belt, and a black shield, emblazoned with a vulture crest in gold, is slung across his back. Four muscled arms extend from the rustling mail, two from each shoulder, the only aspect of his appearance that indicates he is more than a mortal Tarkaan.
